BIOs & CVs

Georgia Mooney

ARIA-winner Georgia Mooney makes music fit for stargazing.
Audiences know her from beloved folk band, All Our Exes Live in Texas, who toured the world extensively, sharing stages with everyone from the Backstreet Boys to Nathaniel Rateliff to Midnight Oil
The release of Mooney’s debut solo album Full of Moon (August 2023 via Nettwerk) marks the stepping forward of a major talent. Co-produced with Grammy-winner Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, Cate Le Bon, Marlon Williams), the album is an ornately melodic, folk/dream-pop universe, carried by Mooney’s soaring ethereal vocals over lush, cinematic soundscapes.

An exceptional achievement for a debut, Full of Moon is nominated for the 2024 ARIA Award for Blues & Roots Album of The Year, as well as for two AIR Awards. Described by The Australian as “nothing short of a triumph.. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2”, and dripping in critical acclaim worldwide, the release has seen Mooney sign with renowned Canadian label Nettwerk, embark on a 55-date Australian tour with Kate Miller-Heidke, open for Martha Wainwright at Sydney City Recital Hall, play headline tours in Australia, UK and Ireland, curate and host a captivating variety show series for Vivid Sydney, and much more.
An avowed Star Wars nerd who presents as a 40s movie star - she seems both from a long time ago and a galaxy far away, while speaking directly to the present. Georgia Mooney’s music is intricate, handcrafted, and richly melodic. Influences from Joni Mitchell, the Great American Songbook, even classical composers sift through her songs, alongside production that evokes the unsettling genius of Kate Bush. Add to that ribald stage banter engendering frequent comparisons to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, it’s no wonder Georgia is captivating audiences in every corner.

Full of Moon has attracted support and praise from the likes of Wonderland, House of Solo, Under The Radar, FAULT Magazine, Daily Telegraph, ABC RN Breakfast, ABC Local, frankie Magazine, Rolling Stone Australia, The Music Network, NME, Pilerats, Margot Magazine, Q News, Music Feeds, Tone Deaf, The Music, The AU Review and beyond, with radio support from Double J, FBi, 2SER, Triple R, PBS, Edge Radio and many others.

OLIVER THORPE - GUITARIST / BACKING VOCALIST

Oliver Thorpe is one of Australia’s most highly respected and in-demand session musicians. As a guitarist, backing vocalist, pedal steel player, and synth player, he has been recruited to perform regularly both live and in studio with artists such as Meg Mac, Tim Freedman, Troy Cassar-Daley, Ian Moss, Clare Bowen and many more.
Ollie is also a remarkable artist in his own right. His song writing involves an eclectic mix of angular guitar melodies and an incredible sense of dynamic. High searing vocals reminiscent of DD Dumbo and Gotye mixed with strong, thick guitar parts come together to form songs that push the boundaries of the genre.

ALYX DENNISON – KEYBOARDIST / BACKING VOCALIST

Alyx Dennison is a singer-songwriter, composer and sound artist living and working on Wangal and Gadigal land. She was one half of beloved experimental pop duo kyü alongside Freya Berkhout, releasing two critically acclaimed albums before disbanding on a high in 2012. In 2015, her debut solo LP was lauded as a marked evolution from her previous work, with music journalist Kate Hennessy writing of her “ability to take pain to the loom and spin it into pure light”.

Since then, Alyx has established herself as a highly versatile composer and sound artist, moving across contemporary art, dance, film and theatre. She has written original music for Belvoir St Theatre, Griffin Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Australasian Dance Collective - as well as some of the country's most exciting choreographers and performance makers, including Charmene Yap, Cass Eipper, Thomas E.S. Kelly, Taree Sansbury and Sara Black. In 2022, she scored Lauren Brincat's large-scale performance project Other Tempo, for the Sydney Opera House and Vivid Sydney.
